The Witching Hour
An animated short created by me & producer/director Hanna Peretz, sound design by David Andersson, voice over by Emily Bruni & music by Jakub Pietras.
What?
I partnered up with fellow Halloween enthusiast, Hanna Peretz, to create an animated short for the season. As well as collaborating on story and the visual feel my role in this project was to design and produce all graphic/illustrated elements and animate the film in its entirety.

How?
The key words I based the design on were tall, sharp and crooked with lots of textures and grain to soften it up. I had a pretty good idea of how I wanted to draw the witch's house from the get-go and based the character and the world around it on that idea.

As for the colors we wanted to stay away from the traditional Halloween colors; orange and purple. I built up a blue monochrome palette inspired by old Scooby Doo-backgrounds for a more mysterious and eerie look.

The animation style for this short is a mix of motion design and classic frame-by-frame animation where the overall film is animated in After Effects and details such as morphs and ghosts are made by hand in Animate.
